Since I shared it on my twitter, I figured why not share it here too? Back when I was trying to figure out my cover art for The Fool, I thought I might attempt to make it myself. You know. Save some money. Practice my limited skills.
Initially I was working with an image of a woman in a sheer mask, who eventually became my model for Delia’s mask. However, as my man so lovingly put it:
It looks like you just took a stock image and added text on it.
Which I did. But I didn’t want it to look like that was all I did…
So I scraped that and thought about doing a more graphic approach. I found a stock image that I fell in love with. I adored its simplicity on a white background, so I pulled another insert-stock-photo-add-text, but it looked less out of place this time.
Unfortunately, neither seemed to be quite “right”. In the end, I’m really happy with my steamy cover that I purchased, but I wanted to share my simple cover that I thought I could push across all three books in the serial.
Who knows. Maybe it’ll make another appearance in the future as a different cover. I don’t hate it, but it’s not quite right.
My attempt:
I love the simplicity and clean lines! I hope you find a suitable project, it’s a really striking cover.

I agree! Hoping to find a use for it at some point. I’m sure another masked gala will make an appearance in my books!
