Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I thought the plot worked, the characters were great, and I was thrilled to see an anthropologist as the lead role. Zach and Moira were a super sexy couple. Oh, and did I mention the sex scenes? Because. Swoon to the max.
Now, there are a few things keeping me from giving this a full 5 stars.
1. Zach’s sudden sex god prowess — if you could become a master of pleasure-giving just by watching porn and reading about it online, all teenage boys would be masters of sex. I just didn’t buy it 100%. Don’t get me wrong, the sex scenes were stellar. Really sexy and totally awesome, but from my point of view, he immediately went from emotionless thrusting to orgasm king. Ehhhhh.
2. The length — I understand why this would be a long book. I like that there was a build to Zach and Moira’s relationship on all levels, but I sometimes found myself wondering where it was all going. When was the shit going to hit the fan? I spent so much time on this book because not much seemed to encourage me on. Great sex scenes were something to look forward to, but I just didn’t feel that overpowering need to get to the end to read about the conclusion.
3. Baby — Totally a personal preference here, but I hate the pet name “baby”. It just seems so awkward to me, especially when uttered during sexual escapades. Again, totally personal.
All in all, I really enjoyed the book, and I’ll definitely looking for more work from the author.
